Wonder is absolutely the BEST literature experience I have EVER had with a novel! And it's ONLY day 1! Who can read through the first couple of chapters, read about the farting nurse and NOT have a HUGE giggle fest, Laugh Out Loud, Rolling on the floor with a class full of 5th graders?!
You've been warned!
We talked about Natalie Merchants song, "Wonder". Powerful. It really gets students thinking! I had the lyrics ready and we sat there listening. I've never seen them so intense!
Bottom Line, they wanted to keep reading. When they want to keep reading without you, you know it's a good book.
